Central Ohio Community Information
New Albany
New Albany is a community geared towards families, situated in Franklin and Licking counties.
According to the 2022 Census data, New Albany's population was approximately 10,500 residents.
Incorporated in 1856, this suburb of Columbus is widely thought to be named after Albany, New York.
Initially, the Wilkins Lumber Mill played a key role in attracting settlers to the area.
However, it wasn't until the 1990s that New Albany experienced significant growth, coinciding with the expansion of Les Wexner's clothing business.
The development of major roads, including State Route 161 and I-270, further contributed to the community's expansion.
Moreover, New Albany is the headquarters for several prominent corporations, such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Commercial Vehicle Group, and the new 1,000-acre, 28-billion-dollar Intel site.
Forbes ranks New Albany as the seventh wealthiest community in the state based on per capita income.
